Get C1 course advice ↗Many ambulance roles ask for Category C1 entitlement because of the vehicles used. C1 covers vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and up to 7.5 tonnes maximum authorised mass.
Student paramedics, emergency care assistants and other ambulance applicants may need provisional or full C1 at different points in recruitment. The job description and employer decide which entitlement you need and when.
Our course prepares you for the DVSA C1 driving tests. Clinical qualifications, blue-light driving and ambulance-service assessments are separate requirements.

No. This course is for acquiring your Category C1 driving licence. Emergency-response driving training and employer assessments are separate.
The employer and role determine this. Some recruitment pathways ask for provisional C1 at an earlier stage and full entitlement later. Check the current job requirements and share your deadline with your adviser.
Yes. You do not need previous large-vehicle experience. Your adviser will guide you through the medical, provisional entitlement and required theory tests before practical training.
This is C1 licence training in a suitable training vehicle. It is not an ambulance-specific operational or emergency-response course.
Vehicles used or controlled by ambulance services can qualify for a Driver CPC exemption when the transport is part of their service responsibilities. The exemption depends on the actual use; your employer should confirm what applies to the role.
