Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between online CPC and classroom CPC with a theory test?

Online CPC is attendance-based and does not require a theory test. It is only suitable for drivers renewing an existing CPC qualification, or for new HGV drivers who passed their car driving test before 1 January 1997.

If this does not apply to you, you cannot complete CPC online. Instead, you’ll need to pass both the CPC theory test and CPC practical test. Please speak to our team to discuss how this works and to confirm pricing.

  • Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is a legal requirement for most professional HGV drivers. It ensures drivers maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills to operate safely and compliantly.

  •

Online CPC training is delivered via live, instructor-led Zoom sessions. Courses are attendance-based only, with no test or exam required. You must attend the full session to receive your CPC hours.

Drivers must complete 35 hours of CPC training every five years. This is usually split into five 7-hour modules, which can be completed at your own pace within the five-year period, or all in one go.

Once you complete a CPC module, your hours are uploaded to the DVSA system. After completing all 35 hours, your new Driver Qualification Card (DQC) will be issued automatically.
