Your C+E journey starts with full support to complete your medical, application forms, and theory tests. Once qualified to begin practical training, our expert instructors guide you step by step through everything required to reach test standard. You’ll learn how to safely handle a trailer, navigate junctions and roundabouts, and master reversing with confidence. Training is structured, supportive, and tailored to your ability, ensuring steady progress throughout the course. During the programme, you’ll complete the official reversing test, followed by a one-hour on-road driving test on the final day. Everything is designed to prepare you properly and give you the best possible chance of passing first time.
A Class 1 (C+E) licence is the highest HGV licence you can hold, allowing you to drive the largest vehicles on the road, including articulated lorries and drawbar combinations. Because it sits at the top of the licence categories, it also covers all smaller HGV types.
This means once you pass Class 1, you’re legally entitled to drive Class 2 (Category C) vehicles as well, without needing to take another test. Many learners choose Class 1 for this reason, as it gives maximum flexibility and future-proofs your licence. It’s the most comprehensive option if you want access to the widest range of driving jobs.

Yes. You can now go straight from a car licence (Category B) to C+E (Class 1) without needing to pass Category C first. Following rule changes, new drivers can skip Class 2 and train directly for articulated lorries, saving both time and money. Once you pass C+E, you are automatically entitled to drive Category C vehicles as well.
A C+E licence allows you to drive articulated lorries and drawbar combinations, giving access to the widest range of HGV driving jobs. This includes long-distance haulage, supermarket logistics, container work, and higher-paying Class 1 roles across the UK.
No previous HGV driving experience is required. Many learners start C+E training straight from a car licence under the current rules. Our instructors tailor the training to your ability, focusing on building confidence and control step by step.
