Your questions

HGV training, clearly explained

How long is an HGV training course?

Our Category C (Class 2) practical course is four days and our C+E (Class 1) practical course is six days, after the required theory tests are passed. The overall journey typically takes around six to eight weeks, depending on processing and test availability.

Can I go straight from a car licence to Class 1?

Yes, there is a route from a car licence to Category C+E without first taking a separate Class 2 driving test. Your adviser will explain the provisional entitlement, preparation and tests you need.

What is the difference between Class 1 and Class 2?

Class 2 is Category C, for rigid HGVs. Class 1 is Category C+E, which adds the entitlement for larger trailer combinations, including articulated lorries. Each supports a range of driving careers.

What is included in my HGV training package?

Your package includes your medical test, application support, theory revision and guidance, theory test bookings, practical driving lessons and DVSA driving tests. Driver CPC is added where required; your adviser will confirm your quote and inclusions.

How much does HGV training cost?

Your quote depends on your chosen licence, current entitlement and whether you need Driver CPC. Contact our advisers for personalised pricing and availability, with a clear explanation of what is included.

Where will my HGV driving lessons take place?

We offer national training options. Use our location finder to explore your area, then speak to your adviser to confirm the practical training arrangements and meeting points.

Will I have help finding driving work?

Our in-house recruitment team can professionally rewrite your CV, advise on local opportunities and help connect you with employers. Recruitment support helps you prepare for applications; job offers depend on employers and their requirements.
