Is Initial CPC the same as the 35-hour online course?
No. Initial CPC involves the module 2 case-study test and module 4 practical demonstration. The 35-hour periodic course is used for renewals and qualifying acquired-rights routes.
Can I take Initial CPC entirely online?
No. Module 2 is a computer-based test at a theory test centre, and module 4 is an in-person practical demonstration. Your preparation and revision arrangements will be explained by your adviser.
Do I need to pass module 2 before module 4?
Yes. You must pass module 2 before booking module 4, and pass module 4 within two years of your module 2 pass.
Is module 4 another driving test?
It is a practical safety demonstration around the vehicle. It is separate from your off-road and on-road licence tests.
How much does Initial CPC cost?
The Initial CPC package is £499 and includes your CPC module 2 theory test, revision tools, module 4 training course and module 4 practical demonstration test.
What if I passed my car test before 1st Jan 1997?
You may hold older C1 entitlement that gives you acquired-rights options. Use our checker and confirm your current licence categories before booking.
What happens after I qualify?
Once you have completed all the required licence and CPC tests, you receive your Driver Qualification Card. You normally maintain Driver CPC through 35 hours of periodic training every five years.
Do I need CPC for private horsebox or motorhome use?
Non-commercial personal use can be exempt. Tell us how you intend to use the vehicle so we can explain the relevant route.
